The Iron Scripter competition will be organised as 4 short prelude events and the main event.
The preludes will be published on IronScripter.us in the morning of:
- Sunday 8 April 2018
- Monday 9 April 2018
- Tuesday 10 April 2018
- Wednesday 11 April 2018
No solution or commentary will be published though you can discuss the challenges on the Iron Scripter forums and Slack channels.
Each faction will be expected to present a solution to the four prelude challenges to the judging panel between 11:00 and 13:00 on Thursday 12 April 2018. Announcements as to the composition of the judging panel and where to find them will be made during the Summit.
Each faction can only present a solution to an individual prelude challenge ONCE. The first solution received by the judges for a particular faction will be deemed to be that faction’s solution. Each submission should clearly indicate the faction’s name, and can be made either in writing or on a USB thumb drive (FAT formatted)
The judges, at their discretion, may award clues, hints or code forming part of the solution to the main challenge based on their assessment of the presented solutions to the prelude challenges.
The main challenge will be delivered to the factions at 15:00 on Thursday 12 April 2018, immediate after the Iron Scripter opening ceremony. The factions have ONE hour to complete the challenge. All coding must cease by 16:00 Thursday 12 April 2018. Factions must submit their results on a USB thumb drive, which they must provide. Submissions must be clearly labeled with the faction’s name.
It is the faction’s responsibility to manage how they solve the challenge. As a hint you will need multiple teams working in parallel to solve the whole challenge. You are advised to start talking to other faction members fi you haven’t already done so.
The judges will use only the first solution presented by a faction. Results will be announced by 16:45 Thursday 12 April 2018.
Be aware that Dark Faction may, or may not, be attending the Summit. They may supply information, hints and clues. That information may, or may not, be helpful.
Factions are allowed to recruit people NOT attending the Summit to work remotely on solving the prelude and main challenges, in accordance with The Rules.
PowerShell v5.1 is the standard PowerShell version for the Iron Scripter prelude and main challenges.
Bring USB drives for submissions. They will be returned to you.
